That donut was bomb.
We flew into Washington D.C. where my wife's mom & grandmother picked us up from the airport. They live just outside D.C. and also have a beach house in North Carolina, so we decided to spend a little good ole fashioned road trip time together.
Living far away from (and recently moving even further away from) family is tough. We were visiting to attend a friends wedding but being able to see family at the same time was really nice.
*spoiler alert* Tayler lives for impromptu dance parties (usually solo or with the dog) but this time I managed to catch a driveway dance party where her mom joined in.
They also have this cool pathway that leads to a small overlook tower on the Ocracoke Sound. Seems like it's intended for bird watching or sunset gazing, but we meandered out there a few minutes after the sun had set.
The main reason we made the trip was for our friend Michal's wedding. I only took a few iPhone snaps of the bride and groom as well as one of the Mrs. and I just after the ceremony. It was a beautiful wedding Michal & Ryder, congratulations and best wishes to you both. Marriage is cool.
🎉

Trying to make the most of the good weather, we ventured out onto Jennette's Pier to do a little fishing. We caught a couple small sea mullet & spotted trout to use as bait a little later in the evening when the big guys were biting.
For some reason, not sure if this is true or not, fishing off the north side of the pier in the summer means that you catch a cornucopia of garbage fish. Skates, rays, and sharks. Like this fella who caught a hammerhead shark right behind us.
Again, not sure if the whole north vs. south side of the pier thing has any credibility. The source is my dad and he tends to exaggerate (read: make things up) kinda often.
A few random IG snaps and boomerangs I've shared elsewhere but wanted to plug/immortalize here on the interwebs.
Lean back, lean back
