We arrived in Berlin obnoxiously early in the morning, grabbed a taxi from Tegel airport, dropped our bags at our hotel, had a coffee, and started walking. Couple things — Burgermeister in Kreuzberg is good af, the Michelberger Hotel is oozing with cool & smart design, and grabbing a beer from the bodega (or whatever the german term for bodega is) and drinking it out front on a bench while people watching is super chill.

I was invited to join a Sketch Plugin Hackathon hosted by IXDS Berlin, which was the real motivation for visiting, and it was amazing! You can read more about that here if you're into design tools or if you dig Sketch and are into gifs then you can check out the super cool plugin we developed called Gif.me here.
oooooo berlin, why are you so nice to look at. The hackathon was a full two day event on a Friday and Saturday
We stayed at the Michelberger Hotel which might be my favorite hotel experience ever. All around thoughtfully designed in every way you can imagine. Including see-through wall into the shower from the bed. 10/10 would recommend.
The hackathon I was there for lasted a full Friday & Saturday, which meant Tayler was wandering around getting lost and exploring on her own during the day before I'd join her for some night-ventures. But Sunday rolled around and after some appropriate sleeping in, again bc the Michelberger is 👌, we found ourselves some coffee and took a stroll from Kreuzberg toward Alexanderplatz.
We make a weird habit out of trying the fast food, generally McDonalds, in every country we visit out of sheer curiosity, and stumbled into the delight that is die Hühnerbox. The Chicken Box is nuggs + wings, cause why the hell not.
These gems were situated all throughout the city on random corners and only take a few seconds to take and a few minutes to print. If you like cheesy memories, well, then this is4u. Looking at mine on my desk beside me right now as I'm writing this.
Took a taxi twice, to and from Tegel Airport. The rest of the time it was walking, cycling, or the train.
Obligatory stop at Mikeller Berlin, because beers. Tasty beers.
and the award for best tote bag goes to...
currywurst, interesting wall, free beer I got because the restaurant messed up our order, a kanguru filet and an obama-burger is too much flair for one menu to handle
Scheduled our flights so we'd have a 24hr layover in Dublin, which was a-ok for us.
Stayed at The Dean. Hotel goals.
And just like that, we were back to the grand ole USA. Not feeling very grand these days, but it's home I guess. For now, that is.
